Association of Commercial Banks of Latvia (ACBL) is a public organisation, uniting on voluntary principle the banks registered in Latvia and branches of foreign banks. It was founded on July 23, 1992. The purpose of Association is to contribute to strengthening and development of the banking system of Latvia. In order to achieve this target, the Association put forward the following main tasks:

• Coordination in solving common banking problems
   
• Representation of collective bank interests at public and municipal institutions, as well as local and international organisations
   
• Protection of rights and interests of members
   
• Participation in improvement of bank legislation
   
• Arranging training and improvement of professional skills of bank employees
   
• Methodical, legal and consultative assistance to Association members
   
• Organizing exchange of experience in bank operation matters
